Abstract

Wine tourism, which is considered within the scope of special interest tourism, is a type of tourism that attracts more and more tourists every year. Not only does wine tourism provide tourists with an authentic experience, but also appeals to the intellectual level of individuals. In addition, since wine tourism can include other types of tourism, such as cultural, heritage and gastronomic tourism, it attracts many visitors and many more than wine enthusiasts or wine experts. For all these reasons, the aim of this study is to determine the satisfaction of local and foreign wine tourists participating in wine tourism as a result of their wine experiences. Questionnaires, were applied by the researcher between November 2016- May 2017 in Portugal, and in July 2017 in Turkey. According to the findings, it is concluded that wine tourists are generally middle aged and older individuals with high educational level and income, and eager and curious for other wine routes.
