Author Guidelines
Journal of Tourism and Gastronomy Studies (JOTAGS) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal that publishes original research articles in the fields of tourism, gastronomy, and related disciplines. The journal employs a double-blind peer-review process to ensure academic quality and integrity.
Originality and Submission Conditions
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submissions that do not comply with these conditions will not be considered for review.
All manuscripts are subject to an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, academic quality, ethical compliance, and adherence to formatting requirements. Only manuscripts that pass this stage are forwarded to the peer-review process.
Peer-Review Process
Manuscripts deemed suitable after the initial editorial assessment are evaluated by at least two independent reviewersthrough a double-blind peer-review process. Based on reviewers’ recommendations, manuscripts may be:
- Accepted,
- Accepted subject to minor or major revisions,
- Returned for resubmission with substantial revisions,
- Rejected.
Authors are informed of all editorial decisions in a timely manner.
Manuscript Preparation, Length, and Template Requirement
All manuscripts must be prepared using the official JOTAGS manuscript template, which is available for download on the journal’s website. Manuscripts that do not comply with the template will be returned to the authors without being sent for peer review.
Formatting requirements are as follows:
- Font: Times New Roman (mandatory)
- Font size: 12-point
- Line spacing: 1.5
The total length of manuscripts must be between 6,000 and 9,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
Abstract and Extended English Summary
Abstracts must clearly present:
- The purpose of the study,
- The methodology,
- The main findings,
- The principal conclusions.
Abstracts must not contain abbreviations or acronyms.
For manuscripts written in Turkish, authors are required to provide a minimum 1,000-word extended summary in English. This extended English summary should comprehensively reflect the study’s background, objectives, methodology, key findings, and implications, in accordance with the journal template.
JEL Classification Codes
Each manuscript must include at least one and no more than three JEL (Journal of Economic Literature) classification codes at the two-digit level (e.g., Q11). Authors may consult the official JEL classification system at:

Style and Referencing
All manuscripts must be prepared in strict accordance with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition.
In-text citations should include the author’s surname and year of publication, and page numbers where applicable. Multiple references should be listed alphabetically and separated by semicolons. Direct quotations must include page numbers using “p.” or “pp.” notation.
Author Responsibility
Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their manuscripts, including the accuracy of data, interpretations, references, and compliance with ethical, legal, and academic standards.
Copyright and Licensing
Copyright of all published articles remains with the author(s).
By publishing in Journal of Tourism and Gastronomy Studies, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and archive their work in open-access form.
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source.
