Abstract

Traveling has been seen as a popular activity for centuries and still maintains this feature. Tourism, as one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world, is a source of many problems with its economic return. “Overtourism”, which is a developing concept in this context, means excessive in tourism. This concept, which indicates that the carrying capacity in a destination is exceeded by the visitor, causes environmental damage in many touristic destinations and poses a problem for the local people. In this study, Lake Salda which is called as Turkey's Maldives that was under the influence of extreme tourism destination in the last year were evaluated. Within the scope of the current research, it has been tried to answer the questions such as the reason for the increase in the number of tourists, what consequences this situation has at the destination and what the actions should be taken. In this research, using the qualitative research method, user comments on the TripAdvisor travel review site between 2014-2019 were analyzed and as a result of the analysis, the evaluations for destination sustainability were made.
