Abstract

Sharing economics research over the past five years has focused on conceptual and theoretical dynamics, strategic and economic implications, motivators and providers, impacts on people, the planet and the economy, and suggested analytical frameworks to evaluate this. However, for Airbnb, one of the sharing economy practices, there are not enough studies yet on the regulations made by local governments. The aim of this study is to focus on the relations between Airbnb, which is considered as one of the most important sharing economy practices, and governments and local legislators, and to reveal the problems experienced as a result of the inability to resolve existing gray areas and what measures the cities take to these problems. For this purpose, the regulations made in the cities that are accepted as important tourism destinations in the world are discussed. In the conclusion part, the regulations made on the basis of cities are brought together.
