Abstract

Gastronomy tourism has been increasing its significance as a type of tourism day by day.
Within the world gastronomy tourism movements, the gastronomy tours arranged in
Mediterranean countries are of significant importance. One of the focuses of gastronomy
tours is the Mediterranean cuisine. The Turkish Cuisine is one of the cuisines that bear
important characteristics and effects of Mediterranean Cuisine. Wild edible plants and
their meals are essential for not only the Mediterranean cuisine but also the Turkish
cuisine. In recent years, the increasing interest on wild edible plant markets and fests also
increases the importance of wild edible plants and their meals in the gastronomy tourism.
The study, therefore, aims at revealing the wild edible plants and meals made from those
wild edible plants that grow in various geographical regions of Turkey, and at drawing
attention to the importance of these meals in terms of human health and gastronomy
tourism.
