Aşırı Turizm Sorunsalı: Kapadokya Bölgesi’ne Yönelik Bir Çalışma (Overtourism Problem: A Study on Cappadocia Region)

A literature research has been conducted in the light of secondary data sources regarding the overtourism phenomenon, which is seen as an important problem for the world tourism. Within the scope of the research of the literature, the concept of overtourism has been handled, the situations that lead to the emergence of excessive tourism and the destinations exposed to excessive tourism have been examined. In the study, the current tourist situation of Cappadocia region, which is an important tourist attraction Center for Turkey and is in the top five among attraction centers in general, was revealed and how/what measures should be taken and/or had been taken in a possible tourist density were discussed. For this purpose, semi-structured interview, one of the qualitative data collection techniques, was conducted. Within the scope of the study, a total of 14 people were interviewed, including academicians from Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Tourism Faculty and experienced and successful managers in the tourism sector. The data obtained as a result of the interview was analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the region experienced tourist intensity during certain periods, and no measures were taken to make the region's resources more sustainable during these busy periods, and if it continues in this way, the region will lose its charm.
