Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate how ChatGPT can be used in gastronomy education by considering ChatGPT, one of the artificial intelligence applications, within the scope of the case study. The study was designed by adopting the qualitative research method and the data were obtained using the interview technique. ChatGPT answered the question of how artificial intelligence can contribute to gastronomy education in general, “recipe creation, flavor matching and experiences, nutrition customization, virtual cooking assistants, food and flavor analysis, data-driven information and virtual reality and augmented reality”. ChatGPT's answer to the second research question, How can ChatGPT contribute to gastronomy education, is “question and answer and providing information, recipe suggestions and variations, gastronomy knowledge and terminology, food and flavor pairings, cultural and historical information, menu planning and balancing, and gastronomy. discussions and trends”. As a result, considering the current situation of ChatGPT and its potential for development in the future, it has been concluded that it can be a source to support gastronomy education for researchers and students who want to get different opinions and suggestions. It is hoped that the study will contribute to the literature on how ChatGPT can be used in gastronomy education.
