The Standpoints of Tourist Visiting Urla Artichoke Festival Within The Scope of Gastronomy Tourism

Local governments and stakeholders in tourism have begun to organize festivals which revealing regional gastronomic elements due to the increase in demand for gastronomic tourism. These festivals, which have been made using the gastronomic attractions of the region, are of great importance in increasing tourism mobility and ensuring competitive advantage. For this purpose, the 2nd International Urla Artichoke Festival held in Urla was studied to determine its effects on the publicity, economic, and socio-cultural aspects of Urla by conducting a questionnaire on the tourists coming to the region during the festival regarding their opinions and satisfaction. The research was conducted between April 29th and May 1st, 2016 by using a questionnaire form with a face-to-face meeting with 339 participants. It is seen that a significant part of those who came to Urla (74,3%), came for the festival and are generally satisfied. The internet takes the first place (53,1%) regarding the source of information about Urla. The participants have a positive opinion about the 2nd International Urla Artichoke Festival. This also shows that the festival has reached its goal.
