Abstract

Cyberloafing is considered among counterproductive aberrant behaviors if they are seen over a certain level. Hotels provide suitable environment for cyberloafing due to the nature of services they provide for their customers. It is not possible to prevent cy-berloafing only through audit systems or control mechanisms. Thus, it is important to reveal organizational reasons that lead employees towards cyberloafing. Therefore, this study aims to measure the effect of mobbing and alienation on cyberloafing, and to determine if psyhcological agreement violation perception plays a role in this effect. In this study, data were collected from hotels using a survey instrument, and a structu-ral equation modelling was completed to analyze the data. The results of the data analysis revealed that mobbing and alienation have affect both psychological agree-ment violation perception and important-unimportant cyberloafing significantly and positively. Additonally, we found that psychological agreement violation perception affects unimortant cyberloafing significantly and positively while it does not affect im-portant cyberloafing behavior. Psychological agreement violation perception plays a mediator role in the relationship between mobbing and alienation and unimportant cyberloafing behavior. No mediator role was found in important cyberloafing behavior.
