Abstract

Human resources in the hospitality businesses, which is considered as labour-intensive businesses, are undoubtedly seen as a key factor of competitive advantage. It is stated that creating happy customers in the hospitality sector can be achieved with happy employees. In this context, it has become important to determine the subjective well-being of hotel employees and the factors affecting their subjective well-being. In this direction, the aim of the research is to reveal the subjective well-being processes and related factors in hotel employees. The study was designed as a case study from qualitative research types. In the study, in which purposive sampling method will be used, a total of 12 volunteer participants working in different positions in different departments in the hospitality sector took part and the data were collected through a semi-structured interview form. The data obtained were analysed by content analysis and the findings were interpreted in the light of the literature. As a result of qualitative data analysis, hotel employees' views on subjective well-being were grouped under three themes: Factors Supporting Negative Mood, Factors Supporting Positive Mood, and Personal and Professional Development. In line with the results of the research, suggestions were made to sector managers.
