Abstract

Each country and each region has its own settled cuisine culture. Practical foods called street foods are also part of the food culture in many countries. Turkey’s street foods are being researched increasingly in recent years as well as in many countries around the world. Its popularity increased after Turkey took place among the countries that are known for street foods in the world and researches has multiplied. From this point of view, in this study, it is aimed to determine the assesments of street food vendors. This study was limited to city of İzmir. In December 2018, face to face interviews were conducted with 12 participants. A semi-structured questionnaire was prepared depending on the literature and six open-ended questions were asked. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. Findings were themed as "health and hygiene", "economic", "consumer", "vocational opinions" and "women's role". As a result, it has been determined that women have invisible support and vendors have unfavourable work conditions. The economic concerns of the sellers are another result. However, street vendors evaluate their own products as healthy and hygienic.
