Turizm Öğrencilerinin Bağlanma Biçimleri: Lisans Düzeyinde Turizm Öğrencilerine Yönelik Bir Değerlendirme (Attachment Styles of Tourism Students: An Evaluation for Tourism Education at Undergraduate Level)

It is important that individuals who want to work in the sector have certain characteristics because the tourism sector requires to be together with people from different cultures, establish good communication and emotional effort. Attachment styles affect many factors that are important in the service sector, such as decision making, subjective well-being, coping with stress, anxiety, and being sensitive to emotional distress of others. The aim of this study is to determine the characteristics of the students receiving tourism education at the undergraduate level within the context of attachment styles model and to evaluate their suitability to work in the tourism sector. A survey questionnaire was applied to 303 students who received tourism education at the undergraduate level and the effect of demographic elements on attachment styles was revealed by chi-square test, independent sample t test and Anova test analysis. Bonferroni test was used in order to determine the differences of attachment styles. According to the results obtained, the highest attachment style is dismissive and the lowest is the preoccupied attachment style. Gender and education have a predictive effect on the average of attachment style score scores.
