Abstract

Accommodation establishments in the service sector are an important source of employment, as well as making positive contributions to the country's economy. However, the difficulties arising from the unique structure of the accommodation establishments cause a negative effect on the well-being of the employees, their job satisfaction, and their commitment to the organization. These negativities experienced by the employees negatively affect the organizational success by causing a decrease in the quality of service offered to the customers and thus unhappy customers. In the research, the effect of transformative leadership behaviors on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the accommodation establishment employees was examined. The data were obtained from the employees of the accommodation establishments operating in Istanbul through questionnaires (n=362). The data were analyzed with SPSS and AMOS programs. The results of the analysis revealed that the transformational leader has a positive effect on their job satisfaction and organizational commitment. While the research contributes to the transformational leadership research in the service sector, it makes practical suggestions for the managers of the accommodation establishment.
