Avrupa Birliğinde Coğrafi İşaretler ve Türkiye’nin Mevcut Durumu (Geographical Indications in The European Union and the Current Situation of Turkey)

Coğrafi işaretli ürünler; yerel kültürel mirasın korunmasında kritik bir rol oynamanın yanı sıra, bölgesel ekonomik kalkınmaya önemli katkılar sunmakta, destinasyonların tanıtımında etkili bir araç olarak işlev görmekte, turistik cazibe unsuru oluşturmakta ve hem üreticilerin hem de tüketicilerin haklarının korunmasını sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Avrupa Birliğindeki coğrafi işaretli ürünlerin uluslararası düzeyini tespit ederek Türkiye’nin bu konudaki mevcut durumunu değerlendirmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda eAmbrosia veri tabanından elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yönteminden faydalanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Coğrafi işaretli ürünler ülkelere, ürün gruplarına, coğrafi işaret türlerine göre sınıflandırılarak açıklanmış benzer şekilde Türkiye’nin mevcut durumu ortaya konmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda, bugüne kadar AB’ye toplam 3909 başvuru yapıldığı, bunları %91’i AB üyesi ülkeler tarafından gerçekleştirildiği, en fazla başvuru yapan ülkenin İtalya olduğu, toplam başvuruların %48’i gıda, %44’ü şarap, %8’i alkollü içeceklerden oluştuğu, Türkiye’nin toplam 85 başvurusu ve 23 coğrafi işareti tescillenmiş ürünü bulunduğu, Türkiye’nin toplam coğrafi başvuruların %2’sini oluşturduğu tespit edilmiştir.
