Abstract

Dietary habits of the people involved in tourism mobility differ. The number of people who have a vegetarian or vegan philosophy is increasing day by day. This increase is accompanied by the need to raise awareness of businesses that produce goods and services about vegetarians and vegans. In recent years, researches on vegetarianism and veganism have shown an increase. It is seen that the vegetarianism and veganism undertaking by different branches of science are starting to become more of an issue in the tourism area. This research, which is a conceptual study, is seeking an answer to the question "Who is a vegetarian tourist and vegan tourist?" In order to explain vegetarian and vegan concepts, the related literature was searched, and vegetarian and vegan types were examined. Besides, for the first time in tourism literature, "vegetarian tourist and vegan tourist" concepts have been defined. In addition to this, the elements in the tourism industry that can disturb vegetarian and vegan tourists have been mentioned. Lastly, suggestions for the tourism industry and the future researchers have been presented.
