Entrepreneurial Personality Traits and Entrepreneurship Motivations of Small and Medium-Sized Food and Beverage Business Owners

In this study, the factors and personality traits of small and medium sized food and beverage owners operating in Muğla to entrepreneurship were examined. In this direction, firstly, the motivational factors and personality traits that propelled business owners to entrepreneurship were determined. Then, the relationship between motivational factors and personality traits has been examined, and later on, it was analyzed whether the motivational factors of the ones who took over from the family and those who founded it changed. The sample of the research is composed of 249 small and medium sized food and beverage owners operating in Muğla. The data were collected by questionnaire. According to the research, it has been determined that the most important motivator that drives small and medium-sized food and beverage owners to entrepreneurship is opportunity-oriented, and the least motivated factor is life style oriented. It was found that there was a significant relationship between different motivational factors and different levels of business-focused, easy, person-dependent, dominant character, independent and utilitarian personality traits, and motivation factors did not show any significant difference according to the ownership status of the operator.
