Identifying the Student Preferences of Food and Beverage Companies

This study was carried out in order to determine the elements that affect the factors of
preference reasons of food and beverage business for the students in the field of
gastronomy. The survey was conducted with Gazi University research students of the
department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts by using the questionnaire forms. The data
of the research were analyzed through the SPSS 16.0 statistical package program.
Categorical variables were presented in umbers and percentage and continuous variables
in ± SD. Statistical significance level was taken (p<0.05). It is found out that reasons for
preference for food and beverage establishments are at most entertainment, cultural and
social activities (%40.4) and fashion ( %3.8) at the least. Besides, it has also been found
out that information on food and beverage establishment was mostly obtained through
“facebook-swarm-twitter” (%35.4) and e-mail (%3.8) at the least. Among the reasons
obtained is that provided they are satisfied with the service offered, they re-prefer the
establishment.
