Abstract

In culinary arts education, working in teams in applied courses is an important way of developing positive attitudes and increasing students' competence. Collaborative learning is an approach in which students work together towards a shared objective. This study aims to identify the factors that motivate students in collaborative learning and contribute to their satisfaction with teamwork, as well as exploring the relationship between motivation and satisfaction. A quantitative research approach and survey technique were used in the study conducted with students of Pamukkale University's gastronomy and culinary arts programme who study and participate in practical courses. This study found significant relationships between students' motivation and their satisfaction with team dynamics and closeness within the team. The study revealed that motivation to work as a team is important for students to have a positive view of the learning process in application-oriented programmes, such as those in gastronomy.
