Edible food produced not consumed for various reasons is a major worldwide problem. Exit of food from consumption is a long process that follows each other, has different characteristics, of various stages and conceptualized according to the stages. Defining stages of processes is extremely important for the correct definition and generation of solutions for problems. Therefore, it is fundamental to create and use common conceptual structures related to stages in scholars. Common conceptual structures are used in international literature, but mostly not in the Turkish literature, confusions amid concepts and untrue referrals. This study, carried out with document analysis, it is aimed to contribute to form of the conceptual structure in question by defining the concepts and revealing the relations and differences. Consequently food wastage is the upper concept; food loss and food waste are sub-components of this upper concept.
