Ankara’da Bulunan Coğrafi İşaretli Gıda Ürünlerinin Gıda Güvenliği ve Sürdürülebilirlik Perspektifinden Değerlendirilmesi (Evaluation of Geographically Indicated Food Producst in Ankara from the Perspective of Food Safety and Sustainability)

Abstract

Geographical indication refers to products that are identified with the region or country to which they belong, with their distinctive features, reputation or various different features. Geographical indications, which contain many different product groups, provide protection by using elements such as quality, tradition and experience of various traditional products. Geographically indicated products, which stand out with their differences from others, are important in transferring the cultural heritage of regions or countries to future generations and providing economic input. Food safety, on the other hand, means ensuring the hygienic conditions of these products at various stages such as growing, transporting and producing and eliminating any situation that may endanger human health. Within the scope of the study, patent documents of geographically indicated food products of Ankara were examined from the perspective of food safety and sustainability. It has been determined that there are deficiencies in the vast majority of patent documents from these two perspectives. It has been seen that it is necessary to check and revise the registration documents and to establish the necessary control mechanisms in order to ensure the continuity of geographical indication implementation and local and cultural products.
